TWO WVA 18 ROX TEAMMATES MAKE COLLEGE DECISIONS
Wisconsin Volleyball Academy is proud to announce that 2 members of the 2010 senior class have made decisions on where they will continue their volleyball careers. Cat Mayer (L/DS, Neenah) will be attending Marquette University and Alyssa Frees (MB/OP, Valley Christian) will be heading to Spring Arbor University.
Frees recently signed a letter of intent to compete for NAIA Spring Arbor University in Michigan. Last year the team made their first trip to the NCCAA National Championship tournament since 1992. Finishing the year at 28-17 the squad tied for 3rd in the competitive Mid Central College Conference. Alyssa will be looking to fill needs in multiple positions for Coach Carol Gates and the Cougars. Alyssa has been a member of WVA for the past two seasons. She is the daughter of Tanya and Tom Frees of Omro.
Mayer has been with WVA throughout her high school volleyball career. She will be walking on at Marquette University for Coach Bond Shymansky as a libero/defensive specialist for the 2010 season. Last season the Golden Eagles rebounded to finish 18-12 and in the middle of the Big East Conference standings. Playing under 2nd year Coach Bond Shymansky Mayer will be competing for time in a rotation that will feature a number of defensive substitutions. Cat is the daughter of Ann and Greg Mayer of Neenah.
Alyssa and Cat are shining examples of student-athletes within our club. Excelling both on the field of play and in the classroom, they have worked very hard to earn the opportunity to compete at the next level. We could not be more excited for each of them and can't wait to see them on the court wearing their new colors this fall. Continue to make us proud!!
